Playing its fourth consecutive road match, the LMU women's tennis team (3-4) posted a 5-2 road victory over San Diego State (3-9) on Tuesday afternoon from the Aztec Tennis Center.
Junior Jessica Perez highlighted the singles play for LMU, recording a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 victory over #121 Tami Nguyen at court one. The Lions dominated singles play on the afternoon, with five of the six courts eventually being captured by LMU.
Kristine Kouyoumjian posted a 6-3, 6-3 straight-set win over Jana Buth at #2 singles, while Andrea Crespo topped Kennedy Davis, 6-2, 6-4 on court three.
Elivira Juravliova and Julia Norlin also recorded singles wins, with freshman Juravliova knocking off Paola Diaz de Regule, 6-4, 6-2, on court four to improve to 5-2 on the season. Norlin, playing at #6 singles, split the first two sets, but won a tiebreaking third set, 10-8, to earn the point.
On the doubles side of play, Perez and Juravliova proved solid at #1 doubles, besting Nguyen and Buth, 6-3. The duo is now 3-2 on the season, having won two straight matches.
LMU will return to action on March 8 when it hosts Georgetown at 2:30 p.m. from the LMU Tennis Center.
