Playing its third home match in as many days, the LMU women's tennis team (4-6) suffered a 4-3 setback to visiting Boston University (6-5) on Thursday afternoon from the LMU Tennis Center.

After BU won the doubles point in convincing fashion, LMU came out strong in singles play. Jessica Perez and Kristine Kouyoumjian each posted victories on the top two courts, with Perez jumping out to an early 4-1 lead in the first before her opponent, Johanna Hyoty, was forced to retire.

Kouyoumjian won a hard-fought first set, 7-6 (4), over Lauren Davis before easily taking the second, 6-1, to capture the point. The victory was the second straight for the junior player on court two.

LMU found itself on the wrong side of a handful of close matches over the next three courts to finish, with Andrea Crespo dropping a three-set match to Iryna Kostirko, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, on court three. It was a similar story for Ellie Grossman on court six, as Grossman fell 6-0 in the first, defeated Barbara Rodriguez, 6-2, in the second, and fell 6-2 in the third.

Anna Romeka, playing on court five, forced a tiebreaker in the first, but dropped the match, 7-6 (5), 6-1, to her opponent, Remi Ramos.

Freshman Elvira Juravliova won her fourth straight match of the year on court four, defeating Sabrina Faybyshev, 4-6, 7-6 (5), 1-0 (10-6). She is now 8-2 on the season.

LMU will return to action on March 16 when it hosts Harvard at 1 p.m.
