Playing against a top-40 opponent on the road, the LMU women's tennis team (1-3) dropped a 6-1 decision to #40 Long Beach State (3-0) on Saturday from the Rhodes Tennis Center.

The Lions and 49ers split the first two doubles matches with a point on the line, as LMU's duo of Andrea Crespo and Julia Norlin topped Ebba Unden/Georgie Sanders, 6-1. Long Beach State responded with a win on court two before Hayley Thompson and Laura Eales decided the point with a victory over Jessica Perez and Elvira Juravliova, 6-4, on the top court.

All six singles matches were completed in straight sets, with Anna Romeka collecting LMU's lone victory on court five. Romeka topped Eales, 6-4, 6-2. The native of Monterey, Calif. was previously 1-1 on the year in dual matches while playing both contests at #6 singles.

The Lions will return to action on February 18 when they travel to UC Riverside for a match at 1:30 p.m.
