The West Coast Conference announced the 2016 West Coast Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team on Tuesday afternoon, and LMU sophomore Erin Williams was tabbed an honorable mention selection.
Williams, LMU's leading blocker with five solos and 66 block assists, is a Film and Television Production major, carrying a 3.31 GPA.
The 2016 All-Academic team is headlined by a pair of student-athletes earning all-academic honors for the third straight year. BYU senior Amy Boswell (3.90 GPA, Nursing) and Pepperdine senior Gaby Palmeri (3.70, Biology) appear on the WCC All-Academic Team for the third time.
Five student-athletes make their second consecutive appearance on the squad: Gonzaga's McKayla Ferris, San Diego's Kristen Gegenbacher, Santa Clara's Kirsten Mead, Pepperdine's Ashley Morgan and BYU's Whitney Young Howard. This season, 13 nominated volleyball student-athletes posted a GPA of 3.50 or better while six recorded a mark of 3.75 or higher.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team.
