WCC Release | Top Drawer Soccer Release
SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Loyola Marymount's Sarina Bolden has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. The sophomore helped push Loyola Marymount to a 2-0-0 conference start this weekend, picking up wins at Gonzaga and Portland.
Bolden tallied both a goal and an assist in each of the WCC games, moving to five goals and 13 points on the year, both team-highs. Bolden was on the field for 85 and 84 minutes, respectively, in the two games and helped secure not only a shutout victory at Portland, but also helped the Lions earn their first away win against the Pilots in program history.
Bolden is the third different Lion to earn the weekly recognition this season, joining Charlee Pruitt in Week 5 (9/19) and Pilar Torres in Week 3 (9/5). LMU's three recipients are the most of any WCC school this year, with BYU being the only other program with multiple players selected in the season's seven weeks.
On Tuesday morning, Top Drawer Soccer announced that Bolden has been named to its National Team of the Week for her performance as well.
The Lions return to Los Angeles this week, beginning with a nationally televised game against #3 BYU. The 8 p.m. game will air on ESPNU from Sullivan Field. Ticket information can be found through the link above.
