Junior Hannah Calton won a pair of events on Saturday in a double-dual meet against CSU Bakersfield and UC San Diego, but the Lions dropped a pair of decisions in the head-to-head scoring. LMU fell to the host Tritons, 220-72, and to the Roadrunners, 204-88.
Calton won her first individual event, the 200 butterfly, in 2:04.17. She returned to the water in the 100 butterfly, edging UCSD's Dari Watkins for first place with a time of 56.81. The native of Granite Bay, Calif. also swam in a pair of relays, helping LMU to a second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:36.88) while swimming the lead leg. Calton was joined by Stacy Maier, Isabel Willis and Kristen Brennand. Maier and Calton were joined by Kailee Mora and Kristen Clarno in the 200 medley relay, which finished third with a time of 1:50.98.
Other top-four finishes from the Lions included Clarno's third-place finish in the 200 IM (2:11.51), Stephanie Horwitz' third-place finish in the 1,000 freestyle (10:51.45), and Willis' fourth-place finish in the 100 freestyle (54.02).
The Lions will return to action next week when they travel to San Diego, Calif. for the annual two-day Beach Cup against Pepperdine, Fresno State and USD. Action begins on Friday at 1:30 pm.
