LOS ANGELES - LMU women's soccer is back on the pitch as preseason training is underway for the 2015 season. The Lions kept busy during the summer and the LMU Sports Network caught up with a few of them as the second week of training began on Sullivan Field.
Senior defender Madison Heilmann was visiting her native Bellingham, Wash., this summer as the Women's World Cup was being contested little more than an hour north of her in Vancouver, BC. When then US National Team advanced to the championship game, Heilmann's mother bought them tickets and two two watched live at BC Place as the U.S. WNT defeated Japan, 5-2.
The atmosphere and level of play that Heilmann witnessed firsthand is an experience she is excited to bring into training camp at LMU as she enters her final season with the Lions.
The Lions kick off the year with an exhibition match at UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Aug. 15, followed by the official season-opener on Aug. 21 against Rutgers in the Penn State Tournament. LMU's home opener is slated for Saturday, Aug. 28 at 4 p.m. versus Bucknell.
