AVCA All-America Teams
Sophomore Sarah Sponcil earned AVCA honorable mention All-American honors, it was announced by the AVCA on Wednesday. Sponcil's honorable mention All-American selection is the third in the last two years for LMU, as Hannah Tedrow and Litara Keil earned nods last year.
LMU made its third trip in the last four years into the NCAA Tournament, eventually reaching the Sweet 16 for just the second time in program history (1996). There, LMU fell in four sets to #9 Kansas, who recently reached the Final Four with a victory over top-seeded USC.
Sponcil, an AVCA All-Region selection earlier this year, finished the season with a team-best 447 kills at a rate of 3.58 per set. She hit .268 on the attack while also pacing the squad in aces (36) and digs (363). The six-rotation player also managed 18 double-doubles to lead the team in the category.
With the indoor season now in the books, LMU will turn its attention to beach volleyball and the inaugural year within the West Coast Conference structure.
