The LMU women's swimming team will head to East Los Angeles College for the A3 Performance Invitational from Thursday through Saturday. The meet has been known as the Arena Invitational in recent years, but has also taken the name of the Nike Cup and Toshiba Classic. No matter the name, the competition has always been a highlight of the season for LMU.
Each day of the meet will begin with preliminaries at 9 a.m. Finals start at 5 p.m. each night. On Saturday, slower heats of the 1650 freestyle are slated to begin at approximately 11:30 a.m., with the fastest women's and men's heat included in the evening portion after 5 p.m. The A3 Performance Invitational is a swimming-only event with no diving.
LMU has been seeded in the top-15 of a handful of events, including Hannah Calton earning a top-10 seed in the 200 butterfly (4th), 200 IM (7th) and 100 butterfly (7th). Mary Kate Reid is seeded 11th in the 100 breaststroke, and 15th in the 200 breaststroke. Finally, Stephanie Horwitz is seeded 14th in the 500 freestyle.
Live results for this year's meet are available on two platforms, with the most reliable and up-to-date coming through the Meet Mobile application, available for download through iTunes and compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Meet results through the app come at an annual subscription cost of $9.99, or monthly fee of $1.99, both of which renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the selected subscription period. Results will also be available for free here, but will not be updated as frequently.
This year's A3 Performance Invitational will again feature a formidable field, with eight men's and 12 women's squads, almost all from the NCAA Division I. A total of 19 swimming events, with 14 individual and five relays, will be contested.
Single-day tickets for the 2015 A3 Performance Invitational are $15 for general admission and $5 for students and children. A three-day session pass can be purchased on Thursday only, for $30, with a two-day pass available on Friday only, for $20.
After the A3 Performance Invitational, LMU will take a break for the Holidays, returning to action on January 6 against Pepperdine. That meet against the Waves will be held at LMU's Burns Aquatics Center and will begin at Noon.
