Oct. 24, 2015 The LMU women's swimming team traveled to Grand Canyon University for a pair of double-dual meets with Grand Canyon and Seattle University on Friday and Saturday.

LMU won the 400 relay on Friday to close the first of the consecutive double-dual meets. Kristen Brennand, Hannah Calton, Isabel Willis and Kristen Clarno teamed to win the event, posting a time of 3:33.84.
In addition to the first-place finish in the 400 relay, LMU individual swimmers also posted five second-place finishes on Friday afternoon. Freshman Lauren Akin took home second in the 1000 freestyle, stopping the clock in 10:52.74 to finish behind Madi Lydig of Seattle U.
After claiming a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:56.94), Hannah Calton earned a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly with a mark of 57.49. Kristen Brennand also claimed a runner-up finish on Friday, taking second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.79 to narrowly edge Kristin Hoffman of Seattle U at 53.89.
Kristen Clarno and Stephanie Horwitz were the final Lions to claim a second-place finish, with Clarno touching the wall in 59.53 to earn that spot in the 100 backstroke. Horwitz led a trio of Lions in second through fourth in the 500 freestyle, finishing in 5:16.16 in front of Keara Reilly (5:21.15) and Akin (5:21.92).
Calton highlighted LMU's performance in Saturday's double-dual, winning the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:07.14.
The Lions managed a handful more top-three finishes, with Reilly claiming third in the 1000 freestyle with a mark of 11:02.14. Clarno followed with a third-place finish in the 200 freestyle, stopping the clock in 1:57.20 to finish ahead of her teammate, Stacy Maier, at 1:58.64. The native of Sunnyvale, Calif. followed up the third-place finish in the 200 freestyle with a runner-up finish in the 100 freestyle (53.22), helping LMU to a 2-3 finish in the event as Brennand took third (53.63).
Just as she did on Friday, Horwitz took home second in the 500 freestyle on Saturday, this time turning in a time of 5:20.35.
The Lions will return to the water on October 31, traveling to UC Davis for a meet at 1 pm.
