Kristen Clarno won two individual events and the Lions won the 200 freestyle relay to close the meet, but LMU dropped a meet to UC Davis by a score of 142-111 on Saturday afternoon at Burns Aquatic Center.
Clarno registered close victories in the 100 freestyle and the 400 individual medley, out touching Davis' Hillary Hunt (53.49) in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.45. Perhaps even a better race due to the distance, Clarno battled Marissa Brown of UC Davis for the top-spot in the 400 IM, posting a time of 4:34.93. Brown was just a hair behind at 4:34.96.
Looking to end the meet on a high note, LMU's quartet of Kjirsten Magnuson, Kailee Mora, Stacy Maier and Kristen Brennand combined to win the 200 freestyle relay with a mark of 1:38.69. The Lions led the entire way, with UCD's relay of Hilvy Cheung, Aislinn Dresel, Katilin Leung and Megan Leung stopping the clock at 1:39.66.
The Lions went 2-3 in the 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke as Maier took second in the backstroke with a time of 59.63, good enough to claim a share of 10th on the LMU All-Time Top-10 list. Clarno finished third in that race with a mark of 1:00.79. Mary Kate Reid finished a close second in the breaststroke, registering a mark of 1:07.59 to fall just behind Davis' Hailey Ferko at 1:07.30. Mora claimed third overall in the race with a time of 1:09.85.
LMU will return to action on Sunday when it hosts San Diego in a meet at 11 a.m. Sunday's meet against the Toreros will feature a live video stream which can be seen at
