LOS ANGELES - West Coast Conference men's soccer action kicks off this week as the Lions travel to face San Diego Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Torero Stadium. The match will be broadcast live on TheW.tv as the first-ever Soccer Game of the Week production for the conference. LMU then returns home Sunday to host Santa Clara at 1 p.m.

The Lions have had a strong start to the season, closing out non-conference play with a 4-2-1 record... In games played through Sept. 29, McFarlin ranks atop the WCC in assists (6) and assists per game (0.86) ... Those numbers are also good for No. 3 nationally in total assists and No. 2 in assists per game ... In goal, Paul Blanchette is sixth in the nation in goals against average (0.439) and fifth in save percentage (0.889) ... Juan De Rada leads LMU with three goals, but the Lions have really spread the wealth as eight different players have scored at least once through seven games.

INSIDE THE MATCH-UP: San Diego
San Diego enters Wednesday's WCC opener with a 3-3-1 mark ... The Toreros are coming off a pair of wins at him ever UC Davis and Sacramento State ... Nine different players have scored one goal apiece ... LMU is 11-24-3 against UDS since 1981... the Toreros have won the last five meetings, including a pair of one-goal decisions in 2012... LMU's last win was a 2-1 overtime decision in 2010...

INSIDE THE MATCH-UP: Santa Clara
Santa Clara enters the week at 3-5-0 ... The Broncos open WCC play at San Diego Friday before traveling to Sullivan Field Sunday ... SCU won consecutive games over Central Arkansas, San Jose State and UC Irvine before falling 1-0 to No. 1 Cal ... Seven players have recorded one goal apiece ... In records that date back to 1981, LMU is 9-23-7 against the Broncos, though in recent years, the series has been tightly contested... six of the last 10 meetings have gone into extra time, all six resulting in a draw... In that span, the Lions have also won twice and the Toreros have picked up a pair of victories... The last four meetings were scoreless or 1-0 decisions...
