LMUat100: Women's Soccer Hall of Fame Inductee Tracy Sharp

Oct. 9, 2011

LOS ANGELES -- Loyola Marymount University celebrates its Centennial in 2011-12, and LMU Athletics will be honoring 100 years of history all season. Each of LMU's NCAA Division I programs will be hosting a Centennial Game to honor LMUat100, which included more than 900 fans at the Sept. 10 men's water polo game against Pepperdine in the Wells Fargo PCH Cup and more than 700 fans at the Sept. 27 volleyball match against WCC newcomer BYU. Up next is the women's soccer match against Gonzaga on Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. As we approach the match, LMULions.com will take a look back at some of the memorable moments from women's soccer history. Today's look back features the Lions Hall of Fame inductee, Tracy Sharp.

In 2007, Tracy Sharp, a standout goalkeeper for the Lions from 1997-2000, was induced into the LMU Athletics Hall of Fame, becoming the first women's soccer player to earn such an honor.

Sharp compiled a laundry list of statistical accomplishments, as well as academic and athletic honors during her four-year career at LMU. She currently ranks No. 1 the Lions' record book in single-single shutouts (12 in 1998), single-season wins (12 in 1998 and 1999) and single-season goals against average (0.60 in 1998). She also holds the LMU all-time career record for shutouts (29) and wins (32), while ranking No. 2 in goals against average (0.89) and No. 3 in saves (206).

During her four years, the Lions compiled a 48-22-6 overall record, including a single-season program-record 13-win season in 1999 and a second place finish in the WCC in 2000, the highest finish by an LMU squad.

Following her sophomore campaign in 1998, Sharp was named WCC Defender of the Year, while also earning first team All-WCC and first team SoccerBuzz.com All-West Region honors.

In all, she was a two-time All-WCC selection, three-time SoccerBuzz.com All-West Region selection, two-time NSCAA All-West Region selection, one-time College Soccer News All-American selection and four-time WCC Scholar Athlete.
