LOS ANGELES - UNLV topped UC Santa Barbara 3-1 (30-25, 27-30, 30-21, 30-27) in a great opening round match-up at the LMU Four Points Sheraton LAX Classic Friday afternoon in Gersten Pavilion. The four-game match featured 22 ties, eight lead changes, and countless long rallies as the out-of-town teams treated Los Angeles fans to some impressive college volleyball.

UNLV was led by Maria Aladjova's 23 kills and 28 digs.

Lauren McLaughlin's 22 kills paced the Gauchos.

UNLV will play the 10:00 a.m. match Saturday against Northwestern. UC Santa Barbara will face the host Lions in the 12:30 p.m. tilt.
