March 4, 2005

Moraga, Calif. - Loyola Marymount women's tennis posted its first shutout victory of the 2005 season, defeating San Francisco 6-0 Friday in the first of three West Coast Conference match-ups of the weekend.

After rain in the Northern California area pushed back the match start time from 2:00 until 5:45, the two programs agreed to play the deciding singles points first. The Lions won at each of the six spots, to earn the 6-0 shutout.

Senior Carla Arguelles earned her fourth straight win at the top spot, defeating San Francisco's Camille Pamart 6-3, 6-2.

Serena Fermin was the first to wrap up her victory Friday afternoon, making quick work of Emma Taylor 6-0, 6-1.

Kimi Kaloi finished second at the fourth spot, getting the win over Megan Tiegs 6-4, 6-3.

At the third spot, sophomore Tamara Tanner defeated Joana Macedo 6-4, 6-4.

Patrycia Hubl earned her first win of the season, outlasting Pichaya Laosirichon at the No. 6 spot 7-5, 6-4.
