LMU Women’s Tennis Celebrates Multiple WCC Honors After Home Sweep Weekend

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Loyola Marymount women's tennis collected multiple West Coast Conference weekly honors following a dominant weekend at the LMU Tennis Center, as Lidia Gonzalez and Camilia Samel-Druz are named WCC Doubles Pair of the Week, while Helene Schnack earns WCC Freshman of the Week recognition.

Gonzalez and Samel-Druz were a perfect 2-0 at the No. 3 doubles position, playing a key role in the Lions' back-to-back victories over Portland and Seattle University. The pair opened the weekend with a commanding 6-1 win over Portland, setting the tone early in doubles play as LMU went on to secure a 6-1 team victory . They followed with another strong performance on Sunday, defeating Seattle U's duo 6-3 to help clinch the doubles point in a 7-0 sweep .

Across the two matches, Gonzalez and Samel-Druz outscored their opponents 12-4, showcasing strong chemistry and consistency from the No. 3 spot. Their ability to deliver decisive wins in doubles provided a reliable foundation for the Lions and proved instrumental in both team victories.

Schnack also turned in an outstanding weekend for LMU, earning Freshman of the Week honors after a flawless showing in both singles and doubles play. Competing at the No. 5 singles position, the freshman went 2-0 without dropping a set, including a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win over Portland and a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Seattle University. She surrendered just five total games across both matches, highlighting her control and efficiency on court.

In doubles, Schnack contributed to LMU's success as well, teaming up for a 6-1 win at the No. 2 position against Seattle U to help secure the doubles point .

The honors come after a strong weekend for the Lions, who posted back-to-back wins at home and showcased depth across the lineup. Gonzalez, Samel-Druz, and Schnack were all central to that success, delivering clutch performances that continue to elevate LMU in conference play.
