LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Junior Lori Sims (Corona, Calif.) has been invited to participate in a training camp with the U.S. Under-21 Women's National Team, running from Feb. 5th-13th at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Sims is the third player from LMU invited to a national youth team training camp, following Laura Trask and Shari Nishikawa.
The U.S. U-21s are focused on preparing for the annual Nordic Cup, held every summer in northern Europe. The top competition in the world for U-21 women, this year's Nordic Cup will be played in Sweden in late July. The USA has won an unprecendented six straight Nordic Cups, playing against Europe's best teams.
After the 2004 season, Sims was named to the All-Region second team. Sims, a WCC first-team selection, was LMU's leading scorer with eight goals and six assists on the year. She was in the top four in the conference for every offensive category. She recorded the third hat trick in LMU history, scoring three goals against Oregon State on September 26th. She had three game-winning goals on the season in LMU's wins over Rutgers, Oregon State and Saint Mary's. Half of her 70 shots on the season were on goal. In just three years, Sims has carved her way into the LMU record books. She sits in the top 10 in every offensive category, both single season and career. Here's a brief look:
