Briefly
The Lions face their final non-conference opponent, Cal State Northridge, at Sullivan Field on Thursday afternoon before heading up to Santa Clara for a matchup with the Broncos on Sunday. The Lions are looking to wrap up their season strong, and have just one more regular season game following this weekend.

A Look Back
The Lions' 1-0 double overtime win at San Francisco marked a variety of firsts for the LMU squad this year. It was their first overtime victory in nine games this season. It was their first win on the road this season, and it was their first WCC win of the season. Kelly Lewandowski was the hero against the Dons, scoring the game ending goal in the 105th minute of action off of an assist from Jennifer Horn. LMU started its weekend with a 2-1 loss at Saint Mary's. Lori Sims gave LMU a 1-0 lead with her goal which helped her break the LMU career points record. The Gaels scored two unanswered goals, including a penalty kick score, to take the win.

Record Breaker
With a goal against Saint Mary's, Lori Sims became the LMU career leader in points with 52. She passed the previous record of 51, set by Heather Farr in 1993-97. She now has 19 career goals and 14 assists. Sims needs just one goal to tie Farr's goals record of 20, and four assists to tie the career assists mark of 18.

Lewandowski Watch
Not to be outdone, Kelly Lewandowski has been making a midseason charge to get to the top of the charts as well. She had goals in consecutive games against Utah and Pepperdine and added a game-winning goal against San Francisco. She is now just two goals away from tying the career record of 20. Lewandowski has 42 career points (18 goals, 6 assists) and sits in fourth place in the career points list.

Slovek Shutting Out Opponents
Sophomore goalkeeper Joslyn Slovek has recorded seven shutouts this season which is the third most among WCC goalkeepers this season. The Lions have picked up victories during five of those shutouts, and ties in two. Slovek now has nine career shutouts, third on the all-time LMU career list.

About Cal State Northridge
The Matadors are 11-6 on the season. They have lost five of their last six games, but previously won nine straight contests. Their most recent win was a 4-3 overtime victory over Cal Poly. They followed that up with a loss to UC Santa Barbara. Brianna Monka leads the team in scoring with eight goals and seven assists, and Kristy Krohn has nine goals and three assists on the year. The Matador's potent attack is averaging 2.34 goals per game. April Cline has a 1.17 GAA with three shutouts.

About Santa Clara
The Broncos are 13-3-2 overall but are winless in their last two games. They suffered a 3-1 loss at #2 Portland on Friday night, and settled for a 0-0 tie at Gonzaga on Sunday. Jordan Angeli leads the team in scoring with 10 goals and three assits on the year. Tina Estrada has six goals and one assist, and Meagan Snell has two goals and six assists. Julie Ryder has a 0.61 GAA with seven shutouts.

Horn Honored by Soccer Buzz
Senior defender Jennifer Horn was selected to Soccer Buzz's Team of the Week after earning Defensive MVP honors at the LMU-Four Points Sheraton Culver City Tournament. She led LMU to two shutout victories, and scored the game-winning goal against then-#29 Georgia. It is the first such honor for Horn who was also named the Defensive MVP of the LMU Tournament last year.

All-Tournament Team
As the only team to go 2-0 in the LMU-Four Points Sheraton Culver City Tournament, LMU had four players named to the All-Tournament team. Jennifer Horn was named the Defensive MVP for the second straight year, and Lori Sims was named the co-Offensive MVP. Tana Smothermon and Joslyn Slovek were also named to the All-Tournament Team.

All About the Overtime
The Lions opened their season with five straight double-overtime games, and the sixth game ended after just one overtime period. The six straight overtimes to start the season marks a WCC record, but the double overtime concept is not foreign to the Lions. Last season, LMU played in five double overtime games, and another two games that ended in a single overtime period. The 2003 squad played three double overtime games, and the 2002 team also appeared in five double overtime games. After six straight non-OT games, LMU has seen double overtime in three of its last five games. The eight double overtime games is the most in program history.

Looking Ahead
LMU will play its final game of the regular season next Saturday, hosting San Diego at Sullivan Field at 1:00pm. It also marks Senior Day and the Lions will honor their senior class in a ceremony before the game.

Win Number 150
LMU Head Coach Gregg Murphy recorded his 150th career win with the 2-0 victory over UC Riverside. In his 16th year, Murphy coached at Chapman College before coming to LMU. He is in his 10th season with the Lions.

Challenging Schedule
As a member of the West Coast Conference, LMU's schedule is one of the toughest in the country. Six 2005 opponents are currently ranked in Soccer Buzz's top 30 poll this week, including four WCC opponents. In addition, Florida State (#5), and Cal State Fullerton (#22) are all ranked among the nation's top teams. Other opponents have been ranked so far this season - Cal Poly, USC, Princeton, Utah, Georgia, and San Diego have all seen time in the top 25. All but one of the teams that has handed the Lions a loss has been ranked in the top 30 at some point this season.

Sullivan Field Upgrades
Fans to Sullivan Field will notice a few changes to the atmosphere this season. Brand new banners on the back on the bleachers welcome fans to the "Home of the Lions." In addition, a new scoreboard has been installed. This season, the Lions play 12 of their 20 games at Sullivan Field.
