LOS ANGELES, Calif.- Junior Lori Sims took care of all of LMU's scoring this afternoon, netting her first career hat trick to lead the Lions to a 3-0 win over Oregon State at Sullivan Field. Coming off the bench, Sims scored LMU's first goal in the 32nd minute of the game, and added two more insurance goals in the second half of the game. Freshman Joslyn Slovek made five saves to record her second straight shutout in her second straight start.

Sims' first goal was a blast from 35 yards out. She drove it past a diving Oregon State goalkeeper at 31:21 to put the Lions on the board. The game remained a 1-0 LMU lead for much of the second half, until 74:46. Tana Smothermon chipped a ball over the OSU defense, and Sims slipped past the defenders to put it in for the 2-0 LMU lead.

Sims added the final goal at 84:41. After taking a pass from Kelly Lewandowski, she kicked a low ball to the right post for her third of of the game.

Slovek preserved the shutout in the final minutes of the game. She used her tall 6-foot frame to tip a high OSU shot over the goal to preserve her scoreless streak.

OSU's Jodie Taylor, the Beavers' leading scorer with nine goals, was held to just three shots in the game, while Stacey Mescher added two shots for the Beavers. Amy Johnson made four saves in her second start of the season.

Sims led LMU with six shots (five on goal), while Lewandowski added two. LMU outshot OSU 11-8. Sims' hat trick is just the third hat trick in LMU women's soccer history. Teammate Kellie Schroeder recorded the second LMU hat trick earlier this season in the win over Northern Colorado.

The Lions return to action next weekend as they travel north to play Washington State on October 1st. It will be the second straight Pac-10 school the Lions will play, and the third Pac-10 opponent of the season. LMU will play Eastern Washington on Sunday, October 3rd to finish off their road trip.
