Head Coach Julie Wilhoit
On Sunday's game: "It was a dogfight and a Lion fight. From a coaching perspective, it was a
constant chess match, constant play-by-play, defense-by-defense, anything
can happen."
On building program: "Nine years ago, I came in and wanted to bring this program not only to the level of a top WCC team but to being a national contender. We're able to attract student-athletes who want to be great students and great basketball players at the same
time. Every year we believe we can step up and be competitive."
On the last play of the game: "Defense brought us here. It brought us to this point. For us to end on a defensive play sums up what our season has been about."
On her lineup: "The glory is in our bench play. It's not about who starts.
It's about a team that plays and a team that finishes."
On the what the win means for LMU: "This cut-down net is for every person who has come through our program and our community and stood up for women's basketball."
Kate Murray
On the win: "This is where we wanted to be. We've done everything in our power to get
here, we were just able to put it together this year."
On practicing this late in the season: "I'll practice anytime if it means we're playing in the NCAA Tournament."
On Gonzaga's last possession: "We're confident in our defense. It's a lot easier to defend when you know they need a three-pointer."
Mary Turner
On defense: "My role is to play defense and when I do that well, everything else comes to me. I'll walk off the court with two broken legs before I let anyone score on me. It's
what we've been doing all year long."
