FULLERTON, Calif. - Jacquelyn Woods scored a career-high 29 points to lead the Loyola Marymount women's basketball team to a 67-50 victory over Cal State Fullerton this evening in Titan Gym. Woods broke her career high for points in the first half, and then shattered it in the second half. It was LMU's second victory over the Titans this season, as the Lions improve to 3-2 on the season. The Lions jumped out to a good start, with Woods picking up a pair of baskets to help LMU out to a 9-6 advantage. The scoring pace slowed a bit in the next few minutes, but LMU held a 13-11 advantage going into the second media timeout. The Titans tied the score on a driving layup by Charlee Underwood at 10:51. Amber Pruitt's layup and free throw gave CSF its first lead of the game, 16-13. On Fullerton's next possession, Woods made a steal, ran the length of the court for a breakaway layup and was foulded. She hit the ensuing free throw to gave the Lions a lead again, 20-18. She made two straight shots to put LMU up 24-18.

In the first half, she also tied her career record for field goals attempted at 13.

After Grooms scored LMU's first basket of the half and Bianca Ziemann added a free throw, it was the Jackie Woods show. She rattled off LMU's next six points to help the Lions extend their lead to 43-30. Two quick inside baskets by Grooms, and a steal and breakaway layup by Mary Turner helped LMU maintain its 13 point lead, 49-36. A jumper out of a timeout by Bianca Ziemann gave the Lions their biggest lead of the game at 53-36.

The Titans answered with a three pointer by Meghann Keahtley, and an inside layup by Mosley to cut the LMU lead to 53-41. A pair of free throw by Woods stopped a four-minute LMU scoring drought. On the next Titan possession, she cut off the pass, drove the length of the court for another layup, and was fouled. She hit the free throw to give the Lions a 58-41 lead. Valerie Ogoke extended LMU's lead to 20 with another three point play. The Lions controlled the play for the rest of the game for the 67-50 victory.

Freshman Carrie Noyes made her first career appearance just a few miles down the road from her hometown of Brea, Calif. She pulled down her first career rebound with 1:00 remaining on the clock.
