March 18, 2003

Rancho Santa Fe, CA (March 17) - The Loyola Marymount University men's golf team finished the first day of the 16th Annual San Diego Invitational with a two-round score of 645, placing them in a tie for ninth place with the University of Wyoming.

The Lions are eight-strokes behind San Francisco in the 16-team NCAA Division I tournament. Leading the field is the University of Portland with a score of 617.

Leading the way for the Lions is junior Mike Farrell, who sits in a tie for fifth place with a nine-over par 153. The windy conditions kept the entire 89-man field over par through the first two rounds. Farrell shot a two-over par 74 in the first round and finished the day with a 79 in the second round.

Freshman Chaz Inouye is current in a seven-way tie for 14th place with a two-round score of 156 (+12). Fellow freshman Andrew Patterson is in 56th place with a 165 (+21), junior Will Luciano finished with a 174 (+30) and freshman Dean Delaye shot a 179 (+35).
