Three Lions Earn All-WCC Honors

Los Angeles, Calif., - Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003 - Three Lions were named to the 2003 women's soccer All-West Coast Conference team as announced today by the conference office. Seniors Laura Trask and Shari Nishikawa earned second-team honors while sophomore Lori Sims garnered honorable mention accolades. All three are making repeat appearances on the conference honors list.

Trask, a forward from El Cajon, Calif., earned her fourth straight conference honor. The defender/midfielder was a second-team member as a freshman and sophomore and was named first-team last season as a junior. Trask started in all 20 games for the Lions this year collecting two goals, three assists and seven points in the process.

Nishikawa, a native of Kaneohe, Haw., collected her third all-conference award. It is her second consecutive second-team appearance, she was a first -team pick as a freshman. Nishikawa, who started all 20 games, led the Lions in scoring with five goals, two assists and 12 points. She ends her career ranked seventh on LMU's all-time assists chart with 10.

Rounding out the list of honorees is Sims who hails from Corona, Calif. The forward garnered her second straight all-conference honorable mention award finishing behind Nishikawa on the Lions' scoring leader board. Sims played in 18 games and made four starts coming off the bench for the Lions. Her four goals was tied for second among Lions, she also collected two assists for a total of 10 points.

The Lions finished 2003 with a 9-8-3 overall mark and a 2-5-0 record in the WCC.
