Irvine, CA - The Lions traveled to Irvine Sunday afternoon where they defeated UC Irvine 2-1 on a mission to turn their season around. With the win, the Lions snap their three-game losing streak.

Kelly Yukihiro once again stood in the goal for the Lions where she collected her first win as a Lion. Yukihiro allowed only one shot, while she tallied two saves.

Laura Trask gave the Anteaters a tough time with her five shot attempts, and her goal in the 63rd minute of the game. She was assisted by Myka Peck who shot a crossing pass from 7 yards out to Trask, who scored.

Heather Nelson was the next Lion to draw a score, as she shot the ball from five yards out off of the defender. This is Nelson's first game-winning goal on the season.

The only player from UC Irvine to score on Yukihiro was Mary Peters, as she tried to get her team back into the game with her 70th-minute header to score.

Next, the Lions take their win to Cal State Northridge where they play the Matadors on Friday, Sept. 28, at 7:00 p.m., in hopes of keeping the momentum from this win.
