Box ScoreLos Angeles, Calif., - Saturday, Feb. 17, 2001 - The Loyola Marymount womens basketball team rolled to a 70-52 win over Portland in front of 960 in attendance Saturday night in Gersten Pavilion. LMU set a new program record for single season wins and matched the school record for conference wins as it improved its record to 18-7 overall and 9-3 in the West Coast Conference. Four of the five Lion starters scored in double digits while senior guard Taryn Reynolds hit a game-high 19 points in her final game at Gersten Pavilion.
The Lions roared to a 21-9 lead in the first nine minutes of play. Portland (12-13 Overall/3-9 WCC) was down 24-47 at the half with its leading scorer Sharon Rissmiller recording 13 points. Rissmiller went cold in the second half though, going 0-for-6 as she finished the game with her first half points total.
Reynolds hit her 19 points on a 7-of-11 performance from the floor and was 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. She also pulled down 3 rebounds, had 3 assists, 1 block and 1 steal. Kate Murray hit the double-digit mark for the 22nd time this season tallying 13 points while also collecting 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Freshman center Adrianne Slaughter recorded the 6th double-double of her career with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Freshman Jasmin Matthews had another big game as she dropped 12 points and hauled in 6 rebounds.
The Lions round out the regular season on the road next weekend. LMU will travel to San Francisco on Friday, Feb. 23. The Lions will face off against the Lady Dons at 7 p.m. in War Memorial Gym in San Francisco.
