Los Angeles, CA,-- The West Coast Conference announced the All-Conference team Wednesday, as LMU's Laura Trask garnered Second-Team All-WCC honors for her role in the Lions' offense this season. Four other Lions were also honored with Honorable Mention recognition.
Trask ended the season as one of the team's leading scorers with four goals totaling eight points. She scored two of those goals against then-#24 Michigan to open the season for the Lions. She also scored against UC Irvine, and Cal Poly SLO.
Elizabeth Skhal, Allison Marra, Myka Peck and Kylie Beren were also honored as the WCC recognized their efforts with Honorable Mention.
Skhal, LMU's starting goalkeeper, earned Honorable Mention from the conference for her efforts in the Lions's season. She ended the season with 54 saves and a 1.35 goals against average for the season. Skhal also notched 3.5 shutouts for the season, including the 1-0 shutout of then-#12 Saint Mary's.
Marra ended the season as the Lions' leading scorer with five goals for ten points. She played in all 17 games of the Lions'. She was able to score twice in the Lions 4-0 shutout of CSUN, and also scored one goal against Portland to end the season.
Peck was one of the assist leaders throughout the season. She assisted on three goals for the Lions, included one assist in the Lions 4-0 shutout of the Gonzaga Bulldogs in their last weekend of play.
Beren, a freshmen defender, stepped up in the Lions defense this season as their backfield was hampered with injury. She started in 12 of the 15 games she played in this season, and was a pivotal player in stopping the opponents offense. As a defender she also took six shots in efforts to score for the Lions.
The Lions are set to start their 2002 season on September 2, 2002, when they host the San Diego State Azetcs to open the season.
