LMU Softball Receives Votes in NFCA/GoRout Top 25 Following Statement Weekend at Mary Nutter Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Fresh off a breakthrough weekend at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, the Loyola Marymount softball team has earned national recognition, receiving votes in the latest NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll released on February 24. The Lions appear in the "Receiving Votes" category after continuing their historic start to the 2026 season and delivering one of the program's biggest wins in recent years.

LMU's rise comes on the heels of a standout showing in Cathedral City, highlighted by a 4–2 upset victory over No. 23 Washington. Behind dominant pitching, timely hitting, and a poised defensive effort, the Lions outlasted the nationally ranked Huskies to secure their first ranked win of the year. The victory also marked a historic milestone for head coach Tairia Flowers, who recorded her 150th career win at LMU.

The Lions closed the weekend with a 13-2 overall record, officially marking the best start to a season in program history through the first 15 games. LMU showcased both depth and balance throughout the tournament, earning key contributions from the entire lineup. Pitcher Sara Pinedo anchored the staff with one of the most impressive weekends of her career, while offensive sparks from Avery Francis, Izzy Jamgotchian, Cristina Jones, Sydney Poole, and Lindsay O'Dell powered LMU's production against high-level competition.
