Perovani Earns Freshman of the Week Honors After Dominant Road Performances

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - LMU women's tennis freshman Sofia Perovani has been named Freshman of the Week following an impressive undefeated showing at No. 5 singles during the Lions' road swing against UC San Diego and San Diego State.

Perovani played a pivotal role in LMU's 4-2 victory over UC San Diego, delivering a composed 6-3, 6-1 straight-sets win to help spark the Lions' singles surge after dropping the doubles point. Her efficient performance gave LMU critical momentum as the team rallied to secure the match.

She followed that effort with another commanding display against San Diego State, opening with a 6-0 "bagel" set before closing out a 6-0, 6-3 straight-sets victory. Across the two matches, Perovani went 2-0 in singles play, winning both contests in straight sets and allowing just seven total games.

Competing with confidence and consistency, the freshman has quickly established herself as a reliable force in LMU's lineup. Her poise in road environments and ability to control matches from start to finish were instrumental in the Lions' strong week of competition.
