Arino Ruiz Repeats as Second Team All-American, Gerber and Barnuevo Named HM All-Americans

LOS ANGELES – For the second consecutive season Ruth Arino Ruiz has earned Second Team All-American Honors. Arino Ruiz is now a three-time All-American, having earned Honorable Mention recognition in 2023. Yanah Gerber and Alyssa Barnuevo conclude their careers as an Honorable Mention All-American, her first such honor by the ACWPC.

Arino Ruiz, coming off her second GCC Player of the Year season, helped lead LMU back to the NCAA Tournament with her play in the pool. The senior added to her already impressive legacy with career highs in scoring, assists, points, steals, field blocks, and drawn exclusions. Arino Ruiz led the GCC with 116 goals, 72 assists, and 188 points.

Yanah Gerber also posted her best stats of her time as a Lion, scoring over 20 more goals than any other year and finishing with over 15 assists more than her previous high. Gerber ranked eighth in the GCC in scoring at 65 goals. She also tripled the number of exclusions she drew on the offensive end of the pool.

Alyssa Barnuevo made an immediate impact in her one season with the Lions. The senior transfer recorded 250 saves and ranked first in the GCC with a .461 save percentage and had the best goals against average in the conference of goalies with 20 or more games played.

The trio were instrumental in returning the Lions to the NCAA Tournament. LMU won the Golden Coast Conference Regular Season and Tournament Titles this season. All three were also named to the GCC All-Conference First Team and the GCC All-Tournament Season for their play this season.

Arino Ruiz joins an elite list of three-time All-Americans in program history that includes Teresa Guidi (2002, 2003, 2004), Stacia Peterson (2004, 2005, 2007), Casey Flacks (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012), Alexandra Honny (2012, 2013, 2014), and Marialena Seletopoulou (2019, 2022, 2023). Flacks is the program's only four-time All-American and Guidi is the program's only first team All-American.
