TUCSON, Ariz. – The LMU men's golf team shot 27-under over the final two rounds of University of Arizona's N.I.T. With the strong finish, LMU held onto fourth place with a 288-274-275—837.
The Lions recorded 63 birdies collectively over the two-day event, which is tied for third-most among the 14 teams.
Trevor Algya recorded his second-career top-10 finish, tying for eighth at 71-69-67. Algya recorded 16 eagles over the three rounds, two off the tournament high.
Finishing a stroke back,
Alejandro Alonso tied for 13
th at 72-66-70—208. Alonso recorded an eagle on the second hole of his third round.
Both Algya and Alonso shot 9-under par on Par 5 holes.
Mason Snyder closed his event at 70-70-69—209 to place in a tie for 17
th.
Cade Anderson shot back-to-back rounds of 69 to finish in a tie for 32
nd at 75-69-69—213.
Closing out the LMU five,
David Gutierrez shot 76-77-76—228 and placed 72
nd.
The Lions will next compete at The Prestige in La Quinta, Calif., Feb. 17-19.
