LOS ANGELES - Three top-eight finishes last month by freshman
Mason Snyder of LMU led to him being named the Credit Union 1 West Coast Conference Men's Golfer of the Month for the month of March. This is the second straight CU1 WCC Men's Golfer of the Month accolade for LMU.
Snyder posted three top 10 finishes in three March tournaments with the Lions. Snyder placed second in the R.E.L. Invitational - Lamkin Golf Grips, tied for eighth at the Pauma Valley Invitational and tied for third at the Oregon Duck Invitational. Snyder recorded low rounds of 65, 66, and 67 in those three tournaments, respectively. The freshman led the field with 15 birdies in the Oregon Duck Invitational and tied for the lead with 17 birdies in the R.E.L. Invitational - Lamkin Golf Grips, totaling 43 birdies over the three events. Snyder shot under par in all three events as well, finishing at 10-under (206), 5-under (208), and 2-under (211). With his three finishes in the top eight, Snyder jumped in the rankings from 360 to 160 in College Golf and 1700 to 571 in World Amateur Golf.
Riley Lewis was named WCC Golfer of the Month in February.
The Lions have the UCSB Collegiate Invitational remaining on the schedule on Apr. 8-9 before competining in the West Coast Conference Championships in Bremerton, WA from Apr. 26-28.
