CHULA VISTA, Calif. – LMU men's golf has two players in the top-3 after two rounds on Monday of the R.E.L. Invitation presented by Lamkin Golf Grips.
Mason Snyder is one stroke off the lead and
Riley Lewis is two strokes back to help the Lions sit in a tie for third in the team standings.
Snyder jumped out of the gate with an opening round 68 and nine birdies on his first 18 holes. He followed with a pair of birdies in the second round to finish his day at 65-71—136 and in sole possession of second place at a stroke off the clubhouse leader at 135.
Riley Lewis added two more rounds in the 60s to his impressive collegiate career, shooting 68-69—137 on Monday. Lewis recorded 10 birdies over the two rounds to open the tournament.
Sitting in a tie for 13
th is
Caden McMackin at matching rounds of 70-70—140.
Trevor Algya shot 76-70—146 and
Tony Hendricks recorded a 76-72—148.
As a team, LMU's 279-280—559 is one of four teams to shoot 17-under or better. The Lions are one stroke off the lead and eight strokes ahead of the fifth-place team.
The final round of play will conclude on Tuesday with LMU teeing off in nine-minute intervals from the first hole. Hendricks will open play at 8:45 AM and Snyder will tee off at 9:21 AM.
