DALLAS, Texas – LMU men's golf saved their best round of the tournament for the final day to jump into second place in the competitive Trinity Forest Invitational. The Lions shot the Tuesday-low round with a 13-under, 275 to finish two strokes back of the lead.
LMU moved up two positions to pass USC and tournament hosts SMU and finish at 276-281-275—832. No team recorded more birdies than the 71 totaled by the LMU five.
Mason Snyder jumped 12 players on Tuesday to finish tied for eighth of the 87-person field. Snyder shot 5-under in his final round, with seven birdies, to finish at 9-under, 69-71-67—207. Snyder's 19 birdies over his three rounds tied for the tournament best.
Adam Miller recorded his best finish as a Lion, tying for 11
th. Miller finished at 8-under, 72-67-69—208. Miller closed the event with three birdies and an eagle on 10 to start the back nine.
Finishing a stroke back,
Trevor Algya used six birdies in his final round to shoot 68-72-69—209 and tie for 16
th.
Alejandro Alonso also finished inside the top-20, placing tied for 19
th at 69-71-70—210 after five Tuesday birdies.
Closing out the LMU five was
Hogan Park at 70-74-77—221.
Finishing as the top individual,
Cade Anderson improved in each round he played to tie Snyder for eighth place. Anderson shot 71-69-67—207 and was aided by an eagle on five and five birdies in his final round.
The Lions will next head north to compete in Saint Mary's Leadership & Golf Collegiate Championship from Oct. 21-23.
