Lions Sign Grad Transfer Justin Ahrens

LOS ANGELES – After a four-year playing career at Ohio State University, Justin Ahrens has signed with LMU men's basketball as a graduate transfer. Ahrens started 37 games over the past two seasons and totaled 114 games for the Buckeyes over his four-year career in Columbus.

"We are extremely excited to announce the signing of Justin Ahrens," said Head Coach Stan Johnson. "Justin was a massive priority for our program. Justin's experience at a high level fills so many needs for us. Although Justin is an elite shooter and has a chance be one of the best shooters in college basketball, his game is much more multidimensional than just shooting. Justin is hungry to continue to improve his game while helping us win. We couldn't be more elated to add Justin and his family to our program. They are true winners."

Ahrens shot over 39 percent from three over his collegiate career, played in the NCAA Tournament in all three seasons that the postseason was held, and was named Academic All-Big Ten in back-to-back seasons.

The opportunity to expand and improve my game with a staff that prioritizes player development was big," said Ahrens. "I'm looking forward to impact winning in any way possible from day one."

Ahrens is the fifth player to sign with the Lions this offseason, joining fellow transfers Noah Taitz, Michael Graham, and Rick Issanza, and incoming freshman Chance Stephens.
