HENDERSON, Nev. – The LMU men's golf team shot 13-under in the final round to make a push in the team competition and finish in a tie for second at 12-under, 852 for the tournament. LMU saw their first individual WCC Champion crowned since 2019 and the fifth one in program history as
Riley Lewis won the entire thing by one stroke at 69-70-70—209.
"I'm really proud of the team today," said Head Coach
Jason D'Amore. "We had an opportunity today and the guys showed up and played great. Riley is a stud. He was patient all week and has been working really hard. He deserved this win."
Lewis' final round included a stretch of four birdies over five holes as he hit under par on eight, nine, 10, and 12 on Saturday.
Lewis joins Riley Elmes (2019), Greg Moss (2009), Brian Locke (2006 and 2007) to win the conference championship as individuals.
Gavin Cohen tied for ninth as he saved his best round for Saturday at 73-73-67.
Tony Hendricks had the best round of all 45 golfers on Saturday, shooting 66 to finish at 77-73-66—216 and tie for 19
th.
Caden McMackin (75-73-72—220) and
Cameron Meeks (71-73-77—221) each finished in the top 24 at a stroke apart from each other.
LMU (288-289-275—852) tied BYU (288-285-276—852) with final scores of 852. Pepperdine won the team title with their 847, and two individuals each a stroke back from Lewis.
