Riley Lewis is in pole position after two rounds of play at the 2022 West Coast Conference Championships. At five under for the tournament, Lewis holds a two-stroke lead entering the final round of play on Saturday.
"I'm proud of the guys for hanging in there today, the wind was a little bit tricky," said Head Coach
Jason D'Amore. "We stayed in it and we have a shot tomorrow for the conference championship and that's all we can ask for."
Lewis added four birdies on Friday to bring his total to 69-70—139.
At even,
Cameron Meeks is tied for 11
th with his 71-73—144.
Gavin Cohen is in a tie for 15
th at 73-73—146.
Caden McMackin (75-73—178) and
Tony Hendricks (77-73—180) each lowered their round scores on Friday, posting 73 each.
As a team, the Lions are a stroke out of second place and four strokes off the tournament lead. LMU is 1-over at 288-289—577. LMU has done the best work on Par 3 holes in the tournament so far, averaging 3.05 strokes on such holes. The 109 pars for the Lions is tied with Saint Mary's for most in the tournament.
The final round pairings are set for Saturday morning. LMU will tee off in the second group beginning at 7:50 AM from the first hole and ending with Lewis at 8:30 AM.
