EL MACERO, CA – LMU men's golf holds a two-stroke lead on the field following the opening round of play at the El Macero Classic with a 280.
"The guys hung in there today in some windy conditions," said Head Coach
Jason D'Amore. "The weather isn't supposed to be great tomorrow, so it will be key for us to stay grounded and present."
Cameron Meeks is tied for the tournament lead with his 5-under, 67 performance on Wednesday. Meeks also is tied for the lead with seven birdies in the first round.
Joining Meeks under par is
Gavin Cohen at 3-under, 69 and
Riley Lewis at 2-under 70.
Caden McMackin shot 74 and
Alejandro Alonso opened with a 78 through his first 18 holes.
The tournament will continue on Thursday from El Macero Country Club with Alonso teeing off at 8:30 AM from hole 10 and the rest of the Lions continuing in 14-minute increments to follow.
