CHULA VISTA, Calif. – LMU men's golf shot 5-under on Tuesday to finish five strokes under par and in the top seven of the 16-team field in the Lamkin Grips SD Classic. Three Lions shot par or better in the third round highlighted by the 66 from
Riley Lewis.
"It was a great round for the team today, highlighted by Riley's 66," said Head Coach
Jason D'Amore. "He's been working hard and very committed to his process. Today it paid off."
The Lions shot
288-291-283—862 to move up from 12
th into the seventh position in the final tournament standings. LMU tied for the third-most eagles over the three rounds with
Gavin Cohen,
Alejandro Alonso, and
Riley Lewis each claiming one.
Lewis improved each round of the tournament building on his opening round 75 with a 71 and 66 to close to tie for 15
that 212.
Cohen shot even par with a
70-74-72—216 and Alonso finished a stroke back at
73-72-72—217 in his first round as a Lion.
Cameron Meeks recorded a
72-75-73—220 and
Tony Hendricks shot a
73-74-74—221.
"I'm excited for the team and the opportunity in front of us throughout the rest of the season," added D'Amore.
LMU will head to the Pacific Northwest next for the Oregon Duck Invitational on Mar. 21-22.
