Albuquerque, NM – The LMU men's golf team jumped seven positions in the standings between the first and second rounds on Friday in the opening tournament of the season. The Lions sit in a three-way tie for fifth at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate with the final round to be played on Saturday.
As a team, LMU shot 294-290—584 to tie Colorado and UNLV in and pass Louisville, Denver, Nebraska, Texas El Paso, and Santa Clara in the second round.
The five Lions competing are all within five strokes of each other, with
Gavin Cohen leading the way at 73-72—145 and tied for 21
st.
Caden McMackin (74-72—146) and
Tony Hendricks (72-74—146) are a stroke back of Cohen and tied for 26
th.
Riley Lewis shot 76-72—148 to tie for 37
th in the 100-player field.
Cameron Meeks shot 75 in each round to finish Friday tied for 55
th at 150.
The entire field will tee off at 7:45 a.m. local time on Saturday morning, with LMU's players beginning on holes 5A, 5B, or 6.
