CHANDLER, Ariz. – Holding a stroke lead over the rest of the field, Riley Lewis and Cameron Meeks are tied for first in the individual standings of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic. As a team, the Lions are tied for fifth with one hole to play in the second round.
The Lions opened the day with a 283 then a 3-under through 17 in the second round, before the teams were called in due to darkness. LMU's eight under par at the end of the day is died with the host Wyoming for fifth. The field includes 23 teams and 120 players.
LMU is led by the 9-under duo of Lewis and Meeks. The pair each shot an opening round 65 and are currently each 2-under in the second round.
"I'm super proud of Riley and Cam," said Head Coach Jason D'Amore. "They battled all day and carried us."
Meeks leads all players with a 2.57 average on Par 3 holes and has collected 12 birdies. Lewis did his work on Par 4 holes, shooting 4-under and averaging 3.80 strokes.
Caden McMackin is tied for 67th with his 75, +1 (17), Gavin Cohen is tied for 79th at 78, E (17), and Kyle Kinnane closes out the five with his 78, +1 (17).
Teams will complete their remaining holes on Tuesday morning starting at 7 a.m. and Round 3 will be begin immediately following.
