Lions Head North to Face Dons

LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount University Lions (9-14, 2-4 WCC) head to the Bay Area this weekend and resume West Coast Conference play against the University of San Francisco for a three-game series.

The Lions will be looking for their second straight WCC series win after taking two-of-three from Gonzaga last weekend.

Heading into their series with the Dons, the Lions have taken eight of the last ten games and have won five straight series over USF dating all the way back to 2015.

CJ Fernandezees will be looked upon to continue that streak for LMU. He currently leads the conference in starts with six and is fifth in the WCC in ERA at 2.51. Fernandezees also is holding opposing batters to a .198 batting average and has 17 strikeouts in 28 2/3 innings pitched for LMU.

Alongside Fernandezees has been the relief efforts of Holden Christian. He continues to be dominant on the hill with an ERA of 0.00 while holding opponents to a .113 batting average. Christian leads the Lions in strikeouts with 27, appearances with 10, and games in relief at 10. The solid pitching from the start and confidence in the bullpen has the Lions primed for another series win against the Dons.

Alex Lambeau continues to be a steady contributor for the Lions offense. He's in LMU's top five in batting average, on base percentage, runs scored, hits, doubles, and total bases. That type of production will be looked upon as LMU goes for their second straight series win.

The Lions and Dons will begin their series on Thursday, April 1 when Josh Agnew makes his first start of the season and goes opposite San Francisco's Landen Bourassa. First pitch at Benedetti Diamond is slated for 3:00 p.m.

The entire three-game series against the Dons will be streamed live with links to the broadcasts available on the baseball schedule page at lmulions.com.
