ELK GROVE, Calif. – LMU men's golf continues its hot streak and opened the Sacramento State Invitational with a 276 first round. The Lions are currently in second as a team partially through the second round as the day was shut down due to darkness.
The pairings will pick up in the morning and finish the second round before immediately starting with the final round. LMU is 2-over par in the second round and nine strokes back on Long Beach State that benefitted from a 15-under surge late Monday.
Two Lions are two strokes off the individual leader, both at 7-under through 15 holes.
Gavin Cohen, coming off his back-to-back tournament wins shot an opening 69 before four birdies and an eagle in the second round pushed him into a tie for second with teammate
Riley Lewis.
Lewis totaled nine birdies in the opening round alone and is tied for the tournament lead with nine total birdies.
Kyle Kinnane is 1-over and tied for 27
th,
Cameron Meeks is 3-over and tied for 43
rd, and
Caden McMackin is 13-over and tied for 84
th.
All four Lions are through 15 holes in the second round. Scoring will continue on golfstat.com
