FRESNO, Calif. – The LMU men's golf team is in a race for a tournament title, after shooting 284-275—559 on Monday. The Lions are a stroke off the lead and a stroke ahead of third place.
LMU was carried by
Gavin Cohen, who leads the field with his 70-66—136. Cohen averaged 3.80 on Par 4 holes, to lead the field.
Cameron Meeks is tied for sixth with his 68-71—139, and
Riley Lewis is also in the top-10 of the 49-player field and is tied for ninth with his 71-69—140.
Caden McMackin scored with his 75-69—144, while
Guy Clauss also lowered his score between rounds with his 81-77—158.
Cohen is the first player to shoot a 6-under round this season with his 66.
The Lions totaled 46 birdies to lead all teams, with Cohen sinking 15, McMacking finishing at 10, Meeks converting nine, Lewis adding eight, and Clauss accounting for four.
The WCC holds the top five team positions after 36 holes, with Saint Mary's, LMU, and BYU all between 18 and 16 under. Pacific and Gonzaga are at eight and six-under par, respectively. All nine teams shot even or better on Monday.
