LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount University Lions (1-3, 0-0 WCC) trek through the Pac-12 continues when Utah pays a visit to Page Stadium for a three-game weekend series.
The Lions and Utes renew their series having last played each other in 2014. LMU holds a 14-10 series advantage and heads into the weekend having won seven of the last 10 played against Utah.
The entire three-game series against the Utes will be streamed live with links to the broadcasts available on the baseball schedule page at lmulions.com.
LMU will look to bounce back from their midweek setback against UCLA within the friendly confines of Page. The hot hitting trio of
Kenny Oyama,
Alec Cargin, and
Alex Lambeau have combined for 20 hits with Oyama pacing the Lions at a .615 batting average early on.
Oyama's 11th
inning hit against USC propelled the Lions to their first win of the season and he'll be relied upon to add to LMU's win total over the weekend.
Diego Baqueiro has been another bright spot for head coach
Nathan Choate. Baqueiro's strong play in the field, manning the hot corner, enters the weekend series batting .294 to go along with three RBIs to lead the team.
The Lions have been getting solid starting pitching efforts throughout the young season.
CJ Fernandezees opened the 2021 season with five innings of no-hit baseball while
Jimmy Galicia scattered five hits and three strikeouts over six innings in his LMU debut.
Not to be outdone,
Diego Barrera put together four solid innings of no run baseball in his midweek start against No. 8 UCLA. Barrera had Bruin batters guessing all night while he was on the mound, striking out four and scattering three hits.
LMU's bullpen has seen the emergence of
Owen Hackman through the first four games of the year. Hackman picked up his first collegiate win against USC and has appeared in two of the Lions four games so far.
Fans will not be permitted to attend baseball games at Page Stadium as long as current Los Angeles County and state of California rules are in effect.
