Eli Scott Returns to Preseason All-WCC Team

WCC Release2021-22 Season Tickets | 2021-22 Schedule

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Following a First Team-All WCC selection last season, LMU senior Eli Scott returns to the West Coast Conference's Preseason Men's Basketball Team in his second run as a senior.

Scott led the Lions a year ago and has put together a decorated collegiate career in his four years on The Bluff. In 2020-21, Scott was the only player in the WCC to average 18.0 points per game, 8.0 rebounds per game, and 3.5 assists per game.

Once conference play hit, Scott elevated his game to a new level, which a key factor in bumping LMU up from the seventh-best record in league play in 2019-20 to the third-best record in the WCC this season. In conference games only, nobody scored more that Scott this season. The Chino Hills native was the only player to average over 20 points per game league games. Scott ranked third in WCC rebounding at 7.42 per game and improved his assist numbers to 3.83 in conference play which ranked ninth. Scott also improved his field goal percentage from 49.5 percent overall this season to 51.8 percent in LMU's 12 league games.

In two WCC Tournament games, Scott took another step forward averaging 21.0 points per game to go along with 8.0 rebounds per game and 3.5 assists per game.

Scott is one of four players to appear on the preseason team for the second straight season. The Chino Hills native is also one of four players on the preseason team to utilize the NCAA's granted extra year of eligibility to return to campus and compete as a senior for a second time.

The conference also announced the preseason coaches poll. In Head Coach Stan Johnson's second season, the Lions were picked by the league's nine other head coaches to place fourth with 56 points.

Conference play begins on Jan. 1, with the Lions hosting Gonzaga at home on New Year's Day. The full WCC schedule is available at the link above. The 2022 UCU WCC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament will take place March 3-8 at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

Season tickets are now available for the 2021-22 men's basketball season and start at as low as $99.
