LOS ANGELES – Coming off of a complete road win, the first during
Stan Johnson's tenure as head coach, the Lions have an opportunity to keep building as LMU will travel down to San Diego to face the Toreros for the second time this season.
LMU (8-6, 3-3 WCC) is entering the second game of a season-long four game stretch away from the Bluff, after defeating Portland in the Rose City by 25 points to start off the week on Monday. LMU held the Pilots to just 50 points, including allowing a season-low 22 points in the second half.
Similarly, San Diego's last win came at Portland as well, two day before the Lions made the trip to the Northwest. USD's win over UP is their only victory over the last six games, including an overtime loss to LMU at Gersten Pavilion. In the Jan. 19 overtime game between the two programs, the score was tied seven times and the game featured six lead changes.
The first matchup featured a game-high 20 points by
Eli Scott, who was recently named to the Lou Henson Award Mid-Season Watch List for the top mid-major player in the country. As a senior, Scott is averaging over 16 points per game, which ranks seventh in the WCC, and is the conference's leading rebounder at 8.64 rebounds per contest. Scott's 3.71 assists per game also rank seventh in the league.
The game will be available to stream on Watch Stadium and the WCC Network. Former LMU great Wyking Jones will be on the call alongside Steve Quis. Jones played four seasons for the Lions from 1991-95 and scored over 1,000 career points and earned a spot on the WCC's All-Conference team twice. As a junior Jones finished as the West Coast Conference's second leading scorer at 19.7 points per game.
As always, the game will be available to the radio audience on KXLU 88.9 FM.
