LOS ANGELES ā The Loyola Marymount University women's basketball team (3-7, 2-3 WCC)Ā Ā will debut its social justice jerseys Saturday afternoon in its game against PepperdineĀ in Gersten Pavilion.Ā Ā Ā Ā
"With all the societal and racial injustices that have occurred and continue to occur, LMU women's basketballĀ will be wearing black uniforms in honor of those who have lost their lives. As a team, we wantĀ to use our platform to stand for equality for all," said head coach Charity Elliott. Ā
After over a week of no play, the Lions will take on the Waves coming off of a hard-fought game against BYU, where the team set a record at the free-throw line, hitting 100 percent of attempted free-throws. The last time the Lions shot 100 percent at the line was in 2010.Ā

Meghan Mandel set her season high in points with 15 against the Cougars and is currently seventh in the nation in blocked shots, with 29 on the season. The redshirt senior leads the West Coast Conference in blocks, and is 10

Khari Clark is sixth in the WCC for rebounding, averaging 7.4 per game, while
Chelsey Gipson is eighth in the conference for steals, averaging 1.5 a game.Ā Ā

Last season, the Lions split with the Waves, Ā each team winning on the road, with the Lions winning 84-77 in Malibu, Calif. Pepperdinne leads LMU 56-29 all-time. Saturday's game will be the first game back for PepperdineĀ in over two weeks, as the Waves have not played since December 30, when they took on Gonzaga. The Waves dropped their first two conference games of the season, which includes a 74-64 loss against Portland, and a 58-42 loss against Gonzaga, putting the team at 3-3 on the season.Ā
