Golf Resumes Season with Orange County Collegiate Classic

Live Scoring

LOS ANGELES – The 2020 spring tournament schedule is underway as LMU men's golf is set to compete in the Orange County Collegiate Classic. The two-day tournament will open with 36 holes on Monday, Feb. 10 and conclude with the final 18 holes played on Tuesday.

"Concluding our fall season, we had some great conversations individually with each member of the team," said Assistant Coach Michael McCabe. "We addressed strengths and weaknesses from the fall and created a solid game plan of how to tackle each individual's needs. So far coming into the Spring season the players appear to have really taken to heart what we discussed and came into the spring with direction and a solid foundation. As coaches we implemented everyday being qualifying looking for that daily motivation and purpose."

LMU will use Gavin Cohen, Cameron Meeks, Mason Glinski, Kyle Kinnane, and Raymond Navis for the five-person team. Justin Egelske will be competing as an individual.

Monday's first round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. and Tuesday's final round will tee off with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start. Coto de Caza South Course is a Par 72, 6,986-yard course.

"As coaches we have noticed a more competitive qualifying process and are incredibly optimistic with the momentum the team currently showing," said McCabe. "It makes our job as coaches more difficult because it has led to an incredibly competitive team. We certainly welcome it! We are leaving for our first team event this Sunday and it sure appears, from our standpoint, that the men are fired up to compete and post some good finishes this spring. As we get going and fully into the spring, the challenge will be making sure the guys are properly juggling the demands of school and golf and doing their best to maintain focus on the task at hand."

The 17-team field includes British Columbia, Butler, Cal Baptist, Cal Poly, Central Arkansas, Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, Grand Canyon, LMU, North Alabama, UC Irvine, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, Sacramento State, San Francisco, and Santa Clara.
