MONTEREY, Calif. – As a team, LMU men's golf is 15 strokes under par and sitting in a tie for second place in the West Coast Conference's first event of the fall. LMU shot 267-278—545 over Monday's two rounds at the Pasadera Collegiate Invite.
The Lions were two strokes off the lead after the opening round and shot 13-under to open the Par 70 – 6,689-yard tournament. LMU and Saint Mary's are each 16 back of leader's Pepperdine (265-264—529) entering Tuesday.
In his first collegiate tournament,
Riley Lewis is tied for third overall and leads the team with his 66-65—131. Lewis sunk a team-high 11 birdies and added an eagle to enter the final 18 holes just four strokes off the individual lead.
Brendan Gonzalez was one of three Lions to shoot an opening round 67 and is tied for 13
th at 67-70—137.
Cameron Meeks (67-71—138) and
Gavin Cohen (67—72—139) are a stroke off of each other and each in the top 18 of the field.
Caden McMackin closes out the scoring five after opening the day with a 68.
Competing as an individual,
Raymond Navis is tied for 22
nd with his 70-71—141.
LMU's remaining individuals are
Kyle Kinnane (71-72—142) and
Guy Clauss (81-74—155).
The Lions will tee off beginning at 9:15 with 10-minute increments for the scoring five. Individuals start as early as 7:45 a.m.
