Top 10 Highlights and Memories, accomplishments, and moments highlighted Loyola Marymount's 2018-19 school year. As we prepare for more excitement in 2019-20, we're counting down the Top 10 Moments of this past year.
LOS ANGELES – Five Lions earned All-American recognition in 2018-19 across three different sports.
Following a standout fall, Tess Reid was named to an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I All-America Team for women's volleyball.
Reid's conference-leading 12.00 assists per game (1344 total), ranked third in the nation. The junior also accounted for 2.36 digs per set, 1.12 points per set, and 0.31 services aces for set, all career-bests.
Water polo freshman Blazo Mitrovic was named an ACWPC Division I Honorable Mention All-American following his men's water polo season.
Mitrovic had a stellar first year with the Lions, finishing third in the WWPA with 76 goals and fifth in the conference with 89 points. Mitrovic averaged 2.92 goals per game, second most in the WWPA. Once conference play began, Mitrovic scored 20 goals, two off the conference lead and tied for second-most in the WWPA.
The women's water polo team saw three Lions names to the ACWPC All-American teams following the spring season. Hana Vilanova, was recognized as a Third Team All-American as a senior, following a selection as an honorable mention a year ago. In addition, senior Morgan Molloy and Marialena Seletopoulou were each recognized as Honorable Mention All-Americans.
Vilanova finished her tenure with 228 career goals, ranking fourth all-time in program history. The three-time All-GCC First Teamer. Vilanova added 103 points, 63 goals, and 40 assists in her senior season, which rank second, third, and fourth in the GCC, respectively.
Molloy is coming off her first All-GCC selection of her career, and follow with her first All-American honors. Molloy finished fourth in the GCC this season with a career-high 59 goals, over 20 more than her previous season-high.
Seletopoulou ranked ninth this season nationally with 79 goals after leading the GCC in that category. The sophomore also led the conference with 105 points in her first season on the Bluff.
